Spring into Action

Well it’s been a busy few weeks with more to come! The school Easter holidays flew by…the first week was a blur of ‘Gang Show’ performances for my youngest! We’re all still ‘riding along on the crest of a wave’! (and still singing all the other songs too!)

I got to meet the lovely people at the Darlington Branch of the Embroiderers Guild – they’d invited me along to talk about…ME! It’s an odd thing to do – for one I’m out meeting people rather than solo in the attic, then I always find that going through my work like this encourages reflection on my practice, necessary for development and helpful in choosing which paths will be fruitful and which are ‘dead ends’! So it was a thoughtful drive home!

I’ll be back in Darlington in November to do a workshop…several months away I know but the way things are going at the moment that date will arrive in no time!

A lighthouse sculpture – an idea for that November workshop…

I’ve got a lot of events coming up too. So I’m busy finishing new pieces of work – I think there was steam coming out of my sewing machine!

Fairfield Mill in Sedbergh is hosting an Exhibition by Fusion Textile Network North East from May 9th to June 28th. The title for the show is ‘Revealed’ I’m looking forward to seeing what my fellow Fusionistas have been busy stitching for this!
The Essex Craft & Design Show takes place on the May Bank Holiday weekend at the gorgeous RHS Hyde Hall Garden in Essex (!) I get the chance to catch up with my sister and friends (I grew up in Essex – don’t tell anyone 😉) The art and design on show is always amazing and last time I was there the weather was glorious, so fingers crossed for next weekend!
Walton Beach Huts – Walton on the Naze in Essex

Jesmond Dene Art Market is a lovely event, lots of talented artists in the visitor centre in beautiful Jesmond Dene. The next one is on Saturday 9th of May – come and meet the artists and enjoy green life in the city!

ArtFest Newcastle is part of the national Love Your Market event. It will be fabulous to spend a day at Gray’s Monument in the Toon. I hope it’s sunny! This is a two day event – Friday 22nd May in Grainger Market and Saturday 23rd May at the Monument.
All that and two new workshop projects on the go as well!
